THE STORYTELLER

Sit upright, relaxed yet alert. Notice your breath, bringing your awareness to its sensations. Now bring your attention to any thoughts. Don’t pursue them or push them away. Simply observe them, welcoming them with kindness. Label them as ‘plan’, ‘worry’, memory’, and so on, and then let them go. Notice your mind’s constant storytelling throughout the day. What are its favourite narratives? What habits has it developed? How do they make you feel? Notice how the stories come and go and constantly change. Allow them to arise, be there and pass. Remember to be kind towards yourself as you do so.
